| We dined at this pub on Saturday and it was the third or fourth time we've done so since it was refurbished and the restaurant-conservatory built. In our previous visits, we have always been very impressed with the quality of the food. Prices are more than what you'd expect for pub-grub (between (£9 - £16 for a main course) but worth it because it was restaurant-standard food. However, our most recent visit proved disappointing. It appeared that changes were afoot. Firstly, single page laminated menus had replaced the leather bound ones, lending a cheap feeling to the venue. Secondly, whereas on our previous visits, vegetables were provided with all main course dishes, this wasn't the case this time. We therefore sat for several minutes after our mains arrived, waiting for the side plates of vegetables to be bought over. When they weren't, I asked the Manager who told us that we'd ordered complete meals. Two problems with this - the menu didn't clearly state it and a chicken breast on some crushed potatoes does not constitute good value for money (or tummy!) for £9.95! A portion of vegetables was duly delivered (my partner had already eaten 75% of his meal) and we were charged £2.25 for the privilege. I'm not sure if the pub has changed hands or if they've bought in a new Manager who is on a cost-cutting exercise but my advice would be that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and therefore go back to how it was asap![Report for Removal] | Karen Holmes Chapel Cheshire |
