| Stepping back in time is a description I would say definately applies to the Hop Pole, unfortunately back to the 1800's it has the charm of a Dickensian work house on a bad day, the Landlord can only be described as a fagan like character, only less endearing. I would like to say what a warm, welcoming and generous man he is, with a smile and a amusing anecdote readibly available, but I can't! | Not sure it's a Hotel, but the owners are very accomodating. Firstly, the landlord lent me a tenner to carry on drinking. Secondly, the time was half past one in the morning. | Me and my student girlfriends visited the Hop Pole and we were really impressed!! First impressions were, it was a 1950's theme pub but very well done, the decor and attention to detail was amazing, fashionable city bars could learn a lot here with their oudated industrial underground "feel". Everyone was really welcoming and the landlord had a smile for everyone. There is a great juke-box which caters for everyones tastes, and the lads were amazing never been to a place where so many fit men in one bar!!! Me and my friends all agreed its a fantastic place and makes such a change from the boring so called student "fun pubs" if your a student or not, definatley one for the girls!!! 5stars!!!
