| Also had a meal at the Rose And Crown on Friday 20th Feb 2009. Was searching the web to find comments about the place after our experience in the evening. Went in at about 8.50pm. This was because as we (Couple and two children aged 12)were passing and looking at the menu a couple came out raving about the quality of the food and value for money. Ordered food (2 x Fish and chips, 2 x rump steak - Only £2.99 each)Not long after was told (very apologetically by one of the bar staff)that unfortunately they'd run out of chips. We were offered a full refund or roast potatoes and /or mash. As we were hungry and it was getting late we accepted roasts/mash, and because we'd just got a round of drinks. About a minute later a female (duty manager?) came up and apologised profusely for the situation and told us that we could have our desserts for free or a free round of drinks. The food was okay (what do you expect for £2.99)and we ordered some desserts which we had to reorder because they'd run out of the originals! There was quite a delay before they arrived. Throughout the bar staff were verfy apologetic and polite. Overall not the sort of atmosphere you'd want for children at 10pm but it served a purpose which was to put some food in our stomachs at a reasonable price. Don't agree about the beer in the pevious commment. Tasted far worse. | Visited this pub Fri 20th Feb 09, the beer tastes like p*ss and the food is awful. Ordered fish and chips which was terrible, they had managed to cremate the chips whilst keeping the inside raw, not an easy task. I have no idea what the fish was but it certainly wasn't like anything I had ever tasted before. it was all batter with something grey inside. Whilst we were in the pub we observed at least 3 couples complaining and requesting a refund. The manager was extremely rude to the people who were complaining and did not appear to be concerned that customers were unhappy with the food.
