| Used the Red Lion as an overnight stop before our holiday from Dover. We made the right choice as the staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a positive vibe about the place. Our room was spacious and well appointed. There were Evelyn & Crabtree toiletries (that's my wife's contribution)in the bathrom. The bar sold cask beers (that's mine!). The evening menu had plenty of choice and the cost of the food and wine was very reasonable. The restaurant was obviously popular in the Hythe locality. There was a wide choice of food for breakfast and with an 11:00am checkout we had plenty of time to walk around Hythe.[Report for Removal] | Ivan Hill Penpedairheol Hengoed Wales |

| I can honestly say The Red Lion has been one of the friendliest and cleanest public house restaurants I have ever eaten in. The food was exceptional and very reasonably priced (2 soft drinks, 2 mains and 2 desserts) all for under £30! They were also very accomodating in warming up our babys' food (most places don't like to because health and safety has gone mad!) All in all, I would give The Red Lion, Hythe, a 9 out of 10.[Report for Removal] | Mrs N May Medway Towns Kent |

| The bar area is beautifuly done up but it tends to be quite empty when I walk past. I recently had lunch there, just a burger and it was pretty good. On the strength of that I returned last night (04/01/09) for a family meal. First comment would have to be about the welcome, friendly it wasn't, very offhand indeed. We ordered starters and a main course and even though there were only two others eating it took 45 minutes to deliver - when it came I had a single fishcake and a small side salad for the princley sum of £6, it wasn't nasty but it was bland. My main course was a lamb stew and my first bite was a bit of lamb that I was still trying to chew my way through 2 minutes later. I sent it back and they offered me another starter as something they could deliver quickly - it was quick this time but then it was only a bit of pate, again very bland. I also tried my partner's sea bass and it was overcooked and very chewy. In the pub's favour they did adjust the bill appropriately but if my partner hadn't had her wits about her we would have been wildly overcharged - basically they offered her the card machine but had advanced the process past where you can see the price and it was asking for her pin - she requested to see the price only to discover they had charged us over 3 times as much as our bill. Needless to say we wouldn't return, pity as it is a nicely furnished pub and has no TV or pool table (a big plus in my opinion).[Report for Removal] | Jon Ritman Hythe Kent |

| We stayed at the newly refurbished The Red Lion (Pub/B&B) (August 2008) and can't say enough great things about it and their amazing managers, Andy and Diana Ross, who are the best hosts anyone could wish for! They are attuned to every detail and need of their clientele. Can't recommend it enough...not only were the rooms lovely, with new beds, sheet and towels of stunning quality, but a level of care and hospitality rarely ever found today! Not only that, their pub food is really superb! Treat yourself to an unforgettable break. [Report for Removal] | Pat Putney London |
