| spent the weekend at the local caraven club site which was a very pleasant walk away from what is a great family run pub and restaurant. ate their twice over the weekend after having it recommended to us by the feedback book held at the caravan site. staff and owners all very welcoming and pleasant to us. good to see well behaved dogs were allowed in too and we were able to sit and eat in the bar area with them. lovely home cooked traditional food which went down a treat. portions splendidly good and all freshly made. good selection of cask ales and wines which we took full advantage of. also they have frozen their drinks prices for the rest of 2009 despite all the recent tax rises so very good value for money in comparison to other pubs in the area. would recommend to anyone this is the place to visit in the area and looking forward to going back again soon. | Dropped in after a walk along the canal nearby. The pub is in a really attractive setting on the marsh.Found the staff to be friendly and enjoyed a decent drop of Bombadier Ale while waiting a short time for food. My friend had the home made burger with chips and salad and I had locally caught fresh cod in beer batter with chips and peas. Both really enjoyed the food. The cod in particular was excellent.Overall a very nice pub and would certainly visit again[Report for Removal] | Steve Young Hextable Kent |

| We recently visited Botolphs Bridge Inn to celebrate our Fathers 65th Birthday. We were staying in the area and had not visited the pub before. What a super surprise to stagger accross such a lovely gastronimic delight. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the pub glowed with it's roaring fires. The food was beautifully presented and all freshly prepared. The childrens menu catered for fussy eaters and at £5.00 included a huge ice cream sundae. Overall, excellent value for money and definitely worth another visit when we are in the area. [Report for Removal] | Mrs Z Workman Faversham Kent |

| Just seen reviews on the pub owned by my wife and I. Wish to clarify some of the comments as they are factually incorrect and misleading to any potential customers looking at this site: Review dated 25/08 by Steve Pepper. Mr Pepper was advised at the time of him making the booking that there would be a non refundable deposit. He had no issue with this and dropped the cheque off to us on a trip to the area NOT one made solely to make payment for the booking. We would have been more than happy for it to be posted to us as most deposits are. The table was booked for 7.30 pm with a sitting down time of 8pm. As we call last orders at 21.50 and close the doors after our last customers have departed ( between 10pm amd 10.30pm) on a Sunday we did not deem it necessary to tell him of the hours we keep. That said when he dropped off the deposit he would have seen our opening hours in clear view on every window and door of the building! My wife received a call the day prior to the booking from Mr Pepper stating that 2 of his party were not able to get to us for 7.30pm due to another engagement. My wife attempted to sort this out by suggesting a later time of 8.30 pm to sit down despite this not being our usual practice. Mr Pepper said he would call us back. 10 minutes later Mrs Pepper rang telling us their party could not be there before 9pm. We explained the kitchen took last orders at 8pm on a Sunday but we were happy to extend that to 8.30pm. Despite every effort by my wife to resolve the situation for Mrs Pepper it appears it is all our fault that they changed their minds as to when they wanted to come in. Review dated 31/05 by RHM. Very strange to see a review about mother's day made over 2 months after the event. On Mothers day we deliberately restricted the numbers of customers we booked in so as to ensure good service. Having looked at our records for the day we served all parties in good time and there are no records of anyone actually eating that day with the initials RMH. Perhaps if they let themselves known to us we will happily see what we can do to address their disatisfaction. Review dated 11/05 by Andrew Bushell. This pub is still a friendly family run establishment and we endeavour at all times to provide quality efficient service. We have had to gear more towards food simply to keep afloat as have most other pubs in the area. Despite an exhaustive search through our records and having spoken to regulars we have been unable to trace anyone called Andrew Bushell. If he would be good enough to pop in there is a pint waiting for him as way of an apology for the time it took us to serve him. Review dated 27/04 by AJ Ssmith. Comment has been made as to the rude way my wife dealt with him on the day he came to eat. It is unfortunate he fell short in explaining the whole situation. This party arrived to celebrate their daughter's birthday and without prior agreement brought in a cake of their own to consume. We have a policy of all food and drink being eaten must be purchased from us. This was not an opinion held by this party who felt it was fine to use our plates, cutlery and table to eat their own food. The situation further deteriated when Mr Smith decided to click his fingers at my wife whilst she was taking an order from another table and demand another bottle of wine. She politely explained to him this would be got as soon as she had finished with the customer she was dealing. Alas this comment must have fallen upon deaf ears for him to find it necessary to write a review on here. Indeed the barrage of abuse I myself received from the grandmother of the party because we had not allowed them to eat the cake she had made for her granddaughter (despite having politely explained our policy) appears to have been ommitted from Mr Smith's review. Perhaps she could receive the accolade of rudest grandmother of Kent??? MY WIFE AND I WORK EXTREMELY HARD EVERY DAY TO MAKE BOTOLPHS BRIDGE INN A PLEASANT AND WELCOMING ENVIROMENT FOR ALL THAT COME TO SEE US WHETHER FOR FOOD OR BEVERAGE. WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ARE NATURALLY DISAPPOINTED A FEW PEOPLE HAVE DEEMED IT NECESSARY TO REVIEW US IN A NEGATIVE WAY. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING NEW CUSTOMERS AND ALL THOSE WHO FREQUENT US ON A REGULAR BASIS IN THE FUTURE. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT HAD THE EXPERIENCE THEY HAD HOPED FOR PLEASE COME BACK AND GIVE US ANOTHER GO... MANY THANKS DAVID AND MANDY LANGTON [Report for Removal] | david langton west hythe kent |

| I wish I'd read this website before booking at botolphs bridge. We don't live locally, but as it was my husband's birthday plus two friends birthdays, all whom live in the Hythe area, we wanted to book a meal for Sunday. Booked for 8pm for 9 people, only to be told they needed a cheque deposit as it was a large booking. Drove 150 mile round trip to drop this off and secure booking. Then the day before meal, we called to ask to move the booking to 8.30 as 2 guests would be arriving late due to prior commitments. This was 'impossible' as what we had NOT been told that the pub last orders are 9.45 pm and is closed by 10. When we dared to state that we should have been informed of this when making the booking and didn't actually fancy racing through our meal, the infamous 'rudest landlady in kent' took intense offence and said 'I don't have to tell my customers that''I have 13,000 customers a year, we are very popular and no-one else has complained!' I then said we would have to cancel as we could not meet their timetable but presumably there would be no problem in returning the deposit as they were so popular. She then further harangued me, said was not her fault that I didn't know the closing times (umm whose fault is it then ? My crystal ball appears to have let me down this time)and said the cheque (which we had been told was a returnable deposit) would not be returned as they took cheques because of people like me! I stated that you should make the terms and conditions of the sale clear at the start of the transaction, I was supposed to be a valued customer and was told 'a sale is when you pay'. I pointed out that I was apparently paying anyway so should have bene infomed. This delightful phone conversation ended with the rudest (and most patronising) landlady in the south of England (let's upgrade her) hanging up the phone on me. Needless to say, my bank will be hearing from me, and I count myself very lucky that we never actually got to meet the 'lady' in person. And by the way there are several other pubs and restuarants in Hythe that ARE open after dark...... [Report for Removal] | Steve Pepper London London |

| Recently moved down to the area and after a lengthy day of unpacking i rang around a number of the local pubs/restaurants only to find that Botoplph's Bridge were the only ones willing to cook for us on a sunday evening after 8pm. Great to find a full a la cart menu available and happy, pleasant and helpful staff who engaged us in conversation and made it a pleasant evening. Food quality excellent, as all freshly made, and pleasantly surprised to find that they do take-a-way fish and chips, which i am looking forward to sampling in the near future.[Report for Removal] | David Halley hythe kent |

| Surprised to read the negative reviews for this place. Having said that, hadn't visited the pub prior to the current owners. Have been back time and time again over the last few months. This is not the sort of pub where you'd drinking with mates for a night out. Pubs change with time, and this is definitely one that is putting food at the top of the agenda. But what great food. Extensive menu, home-made fare, (the difference between this and the usual rubbish that pubs churn out is to be applauded) and yes, the service isn't particulary snappy, but fast food it certainly isn't. Food aside.... great choice of real ales, and Weston's Rosie on tap in a bar and beer garden with great views across Romney Marsh to the surrounding hills. (cyclists are provided with a cycle-park next to the beer-garden.)[Report for Removal] | Ian McLauchlan Dymchurch Kent |

| Recently went for a meal here for my mother's birthday and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The owners and staff were all charming people and the service they provided was second to none. Then there was the food, exceptional to say the least. The general atmosphere about the place was very warm and inviting and the whole occasion was superb and it wouldn't have been so anywhere else. As this is the case i will definately be returning asap and i recommend it to anyone who wishes to enjoy good quality food in a wonderful place[Report for Removal] | David Morris lympne kent |

| I totally agree with both these reviews. We went for Mother's Day and although the food was fantastic the service was attrocious. We waited well over an hour for the main course and as stated below, the waiting staff were OK but the landlady was very rude and put us all off ever going there again.[Report for Removal] | RMH Hythe Kent |

| Totally agree with the affore-mentioned's criticism regarding Botolphs Bridge. This used to be a nice, friendly local establishment until the current landlords took over as they have completely destroyed the whole atmosphere of the place. They couple who run it are rude and abrasive to customers, and appear to have lost all their regular trade owing to the fact that they would sooner serve food customers over regular drinkers. I waited ten minutes to be served a second pint whilst food customers were given priority treatment as they came in whilst I was waiting to be served with their drinks and taking their food orders. Not a pleasant experience for anyone who expects a nice quiet drink in a traditional country pub after a pleasant walk across Romney Marsh - AVOID !!!!![Report for Removal] | Andrew Bushell Folkestone Kent |
