| Not actually visited this restaurant/pub, but having been contracted to design their website a while ago, i feel i have every reason to comment on their poor service. I designed, at great detail, a very very nice website for them. It's such a good one, i keep it available for potential customers to see. I have had many great reviews from people visiting it. All that for the measly sum of 35 pounds. They never - and still haven't - paid it! I have emailed, written, etc, many many times without reply. | This pub has recently (April 2008) re-opened with new owners. They have re-branded under the name Chilli Bar & Restaurant and state that they serve "innovative traditional pub food fused with Indian spices and authentic Northern Indian cuisine". I tried it at a couple of weeks after it re-opened and was very disappointed. To begin with, the menu was a tatty, faded, photocopy - not a good start. The starters seemed ok on the menu - all pretty indian - papadums, tandoori chicken - but turned out to be very basic, not fresh and poorly presented. I'll keep this short(ish) so will stick to the worst bits (it was all pretty bad) - Main meal - my steak was 80% fat, half overcooked, half not cooked at all, served with what was clearly mixed veg from the freezer (sweetcorn, peas and square bits of carrots - you know the one), plus potato wedges, which were not too bad, but more than likely came from the freezer too. The Indian spices which had been added to the "traditional pub food" didn't work at all. Service not too bad, but no sign of any management around - just a very young waitress and a fairly chirpy barman. Will not be going back and would urge anyone else to avoid. | Poor experience, pre-ordered meals as requested, however, they unfortunately gave some of these meals to earlier customers. Also only given two real options on sweet menu as they had sold out of other items on the menu. Poor general service, slow, grudging. No real care. No real options but to live with it given that all this happened to my party of 17 guests at 3.00pm on a Sunday (1st October 2006)The slogan here is 'an exceptional eating and drinking experience'.
