| We stopped at the Red Lion as it looked a pretty pub and child friendly whilst staying at Walton on the Naze on holiday. The garden area was very nicely presented and we ordered from the large menu. When the food arrived it was very poor and disappointing. The chicken was not properly cooked and the 'seasonal vegetables' that were advertised with it was a pot of peas. My daughters saugage was under cooked and my meal was of poor quality. when we complained the waitress was very rude and said that she could see nothing wrong with the chicken. She did take the meal away and it came back like a piece of rubber with the most disgusting vegetables you have ever seen. Rude staff and a disgusting meal. | We visited the Red Lion in Kirby-Le-Soken after a trip to Walton with the kids. It is a very nice looking pub from the outside and advertised good food and beer, and also that children were welcome. We arrived about 2 o'clock and sat down in the restaurant area. We ordered from the very respectable, reasonably priced menu, and were all looking forward to some great pub grub. However, when the food arrived it was diabolical. My husband and our friend ordered burgers and chips. The kids had sausages and chips. The meat was so overcooked and there were no gherkins, just a tiny bit of salad. My 8 year old son said it was disgusting. The chips were obviously the scrapings from the bottom of the fryer, with loads of burnt black bits. I ordered a ceaser salad. Not only was the chicken completely dry and over cooked, the parmesan was like rubber and the salad was not even washed. It had bits of dust and dirt inside the leaves. When we complained the landlord became very stubborn and did not seem to think there was too much of a problem, this created a very uncomfortable atmosphere for the rest of the customers. He refused to give us a refund. I have never been to a worse pub in my life. I think this place should be reported to health and safety.[Report for Removal] | Lorraine Boutell Colchester Essex |
