| I haven't yet eaten at the royal oak, nor will I be, on thursday night I booked a table for saturday, unfortunately i was forced to cancel, I called less than 12 hours after my original booking but had to leave a message as there was no answer, later that evening the manageress called me at home regarding my booking and was extremely rude and actually hung up on me, im appalled at the way i was spoken to and if this is the level of customer service im glad i didnt keep my reservation!!![Report for Removal] | natalie partridge witham essex |

| We often go to The Royal Oak in Woodham Mortimer, as a family of four, it is very difficult to find a good local restaurant that serves home cooked food as well as being so welcoming to families. All food is cooked to order, so with my daughter having allergies it is refreshing to dine somewhere with no worries as they are always so obliging. | Having eaten at the Oak many times we rate it as one of the best in the area. The menue always has something that little bit different and the desert board is a must. | Having returned to eat at the venue for a family celebration, two of the main course meals were appallingly bad. Staff agreed that these were inedible due to excessive spice. Replacements were eventually offered but these to were again very sub-standard. Upon raising our complaint politely with staff, the manageress was called. | Visited this pub on 23rd May and what a pleasant surprise it was the place has been totally renovated and now has a fresh clean outlook, I found out that’s its under new management. The beer was fresh with usual lagers and IPA on draught which was served to perfection (heard they are getting Speckled Hen soon) food was superb, good size portion and the price was very reasonable, the service was excellent staff are attentive and willing to give that extra to give great customer service. What a great way to spend the afternoon relaxing in the beer garden, don’t just take my word for it give them a call 01245-223186 and book a meal, you will enjoy the experience.
