| We frequent this pub occasionally when we are passing by Sawbridgeworth, and have always been overwhelmed with the warmth and friendliness of all the people who work there. The Landlord is a diamond geezer with a quirky sense of humour and the bar staff are quick and friendly. The garden is lovely and is well stocked with things to amuse children. | Having visited this pub on a number of different occasions I was impressed by the friendly, warm atmosphere, comfortable and clean decor and total family friendliness. When I mentioned that I was looking for a venue to hold a big party the owners offered to let me hold it in their pub. It was one of the best days ever. They organised amazing food, decorated the pub and garden with flowers and balloons, recommended a great singer/disco, and generally made the whole event run smoothly. The garden has plenty of toys for children and we all had a wonderful time as they were kept fully occupied. This is a pub that welcomes, rather than just tolerates children. I have since spoken to other people who have held a 40th birthday party and a christening there and I would look no further for a great venue for an event. It's also a good place to visit at any time. There's plenty of parking, lovely surroundings and good wholesome pub food. They aren't scared to let you see the kitchen either and you would have to go a long way to find anywhere cleaner. I just don't recognise this place from some of the other reviews; every time I've been there I've met with a really laid back atmosphere and the landlord will change the music, find you a shady spot in the garden and generally do whatever it takes to make you want to come back.
