| Forget all previous comments on this page, this pub was taken over in winter 2009 by mark & tracey, they have managed to make it a welcoming traditional village pub. Mark & tracey are friendly people who make you feel instantly welcome their staff too. Food is excellent all home cooked, i can recommend it to be tried, They have managed to keep their own regulars happy but also bring in outside trade very much keeping a good balance of customer. Occasionally they have a singer( marc Halls ) on a saturday night this is excellent entertaintment, for all tastes. | I moved to Mountnessing this summer at a time when I was at an all time low. The landlord, landlady, staff and regulars made me feel so welcome and I will always be very grateful to them for that. The food is excellent and the range of real ales is good. | Helloooo every1 that no's me. my parents owned this pub for about a year :o) i think.. anyways.. lovely area and people. lovely pub. my parents had a brilliant year hear! and now live next door! they had another pub for 6months but decided to come home! and go back to normal life. | AFer having read the above reviews i wonder if its the same pub??The new govnor has been nothing but a breath of fresh air, always a smile and puts you at your ease immediately. The only bar staff i have been served by is Nicola who i found to be very pleasant and efficient. | Very nice area! pub nice and clean lovely and redecorated. been coming to pub for a couple of years. Stoped coming to the pub when the holding companys took over. Glad its not a green king any more. Should of stayed ridleys. I can agree with the others about the landlord, sometimes when im in, he is too busy with others never actually talked to him, seems a nice fella even if he does come across as offish. the barmaid nicola is very nice, as was all the overs that have come and gone. the 6 o clock club do make you feel uncomfortable untill you get to no them. Theres no need for comments on this page for commenting on the other reviews, it is a review site after all, and if somebody has a bad experience in this pub then of course they have to say, some people have a good experience and want to say. im sure its not ex-landlords, would they really bother to bring the pub down they shared many happy experiences in? i think not. this is a review site for people to share there comments. | What a load of sad individuals, I have been living in the Mountnessing area for only 42 years and have visited most of the pubs in the Ingatestone and Mountnessing area. I went to the Prince of Wales for the first time 2 weeks ago since the new owners have been in, and what a change, the food, atmosphere and the new Landlord is great, he always has time for the customers. I can see that all the negative comments put on this site is clearly someone that has never put a foot in the place since they made such a bad show then selves. Why can't ex landlords keep of this site including off spring? and leave the pub alone? If the new Landlord does lower him self to read this dribble, I hope he does much more of the same for giving us our pub back" Thank you Governor. | Pub nothing special. Tried many pubs over brentwood this is one of the worst. Went in for sunday lunch.. not the best (7/9/08). barstaff not very polite landlord very.. offish. other than that a very nice area, plough is very nice as with the george and dragon. unfortunatly the prince of wales lets the area down. | I don't know what planet Phil and Ashley are on, but it is clearly a different one to me. This pub has gone from very, very ordinary to s something quite the opposite - truly extraordinary. The new guv'nor is anything but nosy and miserable, he has transformed not only the fabric of the pub, but the atmosphere, which is now amazing. The food cannot be faulted, and the range and quality of beers is excellent. This is a hidden gem which should be tried - often.[Report for Removal] | andy a romford essex |

| the new owner is terrible and miserable. the people i new who was there for one year before the holding company i think was brilliant. they tried to bring the pub up with entertainment and redecorating the whole pub. people in mountnessing are VERY stuck up and not very nice people at all especially the 6o'clock club not mentioning no names. i went in a couple of weeks ago and the new landlord looked very miserable and was with his family. the pub is now filled with his family and friends no regulars!! it has gone down since mick and nick! they trashed the place and my god what a horrible man mick was! no way is the pub going to go back up again you may aswell smash it down!! the pints are overpriced as with all the spirits the prices have gone up in the last 4 months! pint of guiness £3.20 Vodka and coke £2.90 !!! | This pub has just recently been taken over and WOW what an improvement. The pub is cleaner and so much more welcoming. The landlord is very friendly. And the drinks are at a reasonable price.
