| Agree the pompous and unfriendly landlord is a major reason not to visit. The pub is near my elderly aunt's home and seemed like a good place for lunch, however the highly offensive language loudly permeating the air from an oikish presumably regular customer went uncurbed and we left vowing never to return. I'm sure he loses a lot of trade through not allowing children and also by allowing such offensive language on his premises. A big no no. [Report for Removal] | ali carter chelmsford essex |

| Having been a regular in this pub for the last 6 years, I can only echo the views of the previous reviewer. Stuart, the grossly overweight landlord is a curmudgeonly sort who does his best to drive away the source of his income. The pub once had a fine reputation as a quality purveyor of ale and food but has sadly declined during Stuart's tenure. Beer is badly kept and food sadly lacking in quality.
