| We called in at this pub.after a day outdoors on 10.12.09 and it was excellent. There was a big warm log fire,the staff were friendly and cheerful and the food was genuine, good-quality, home-cooked and at an extremely reasonable price--- best pub food we've had for ages! | This is an excellent pub. With a big open fire in the winter, the bar is draped with hops and has interesting rustic ornaments and furniture set in cosy nooks to sit and eat or drink in. Not only is the excellent food fresh and home cooked, but it is also a proper real ale pub. It has the biggest selection of perfectly kept real ales in Penrith - including three regular guest ales to choose from. Good food, good beer, good surroundings. | The food is great, I recommend the Large Yorkshire Pudding with Cumberland Sausage. At only £5.90 you get a lot for your money. The prices have recently been reduced which is very appealing and the food has improved immensely. The atmosphere is very homely and welcoming. The staff are very accomodating and efficient.
