| This is a quaint and very old pub with lots of low beams and open fires. It sells a nice pint but the food really wasn't up to much. My starter and main course had identical salad and my husband's chilli crab cakes and gammon steak lacked flavour. I expected two salads having chosen grilled goat's cheese salad and poached salmon with salad but not identical ones. The goats cheese was just warmed up, not really grilled and a few drops of very cheap balsamic vinegar on the plate didn't add anything to the dish. The half baguett that came with the salmon was a strange pallid white as if it had been cooked in a microwave rather than an oven as it had no colour what so ever. I didn't eat it. My husband reported no particular heat to the chilli crab cakes and the gammon was pronounced not very flavoursome, the chips were also soggy. In all a rather disapointing experience as the service was only adequate rather than friendly and we know that you can get much better foood of the same type for less around Penrith.[Report for Removal] | Elizabeth Forbes Penrith Cumbria |

| I have been to this pub many times in the last few years. I often stay at a place nearby called Pooley Bridge, and go for our dinner every time we are there.
