| October 3, 2007 I would like just to make a comment, in that my father was the original owner of the Old Barn Farm when he purchased it some 30 years ago when it was still a house. He had made it into a pub several years later his name is Tony Tarrant and I have some very fond memories of when the pub was still"new" Even though I live in the United States now I still like to glance back once in a while. I am dissapointed about the reviews however and even though I haven't seen any pictures posted, I remember the pub being very beautiful inside and out. Good Luck old Barn.. | We had passed this pub a few times and thought how nice it looked and what a lovely garden it had so we went for Sunday lunch on Sunday 10th Sept 2007. When we arrived they were busy and warned us that there would be a 45 minute wait for food which was fine by us. We ordered one fish and chips, one burger, and one roast turkey. 20 minutes later they arrived and we thought "wow that was good service", how wrong could we be!! The roast turkey dinner was stone cold..the sliced leeks must have been straight from the fridge,,,the carrots were cold, the gravy was cold, it was almost as thouygh it had been left on a windowsill...totally unedible. I told the waitress and she asked if i wanted it reheated or if i wanted a fresh dinner! I said i most definitely wanted a fresh dinner and off she went. We were given no cutlery and after 5 minutes i went in search of some, passing the waitress with another turkey dinner. I asked if it was mine and was told no, she was serving another table without finishing our table. I spoke to the "manager" and told him the situation and said i wanted a hot dinner and some cutlery. I found my own cutlery and went back to sit with my family. The second dinner arrived and incredibly it was just as cold as the first! The waitress made a great show of using oven cloths to carry a plate that a 5 year old wouldnt have had a problem touching with their bare hands. Again the gravy was cold, as were the veg so for the second time i sent it back! The third dinner arrived and despite all my hopes it was just as cold as the other 2!! Three seperate roast dinners and each and every one stone cold, not warm, not hot, COLD! Oh and just in case you thought the other food was fine, the fish oozed grease as soon as a knife was put in it and the bacon burger arived with no bacon in it!! As far as the manager was concerned he really couldnt have cared less. We had a refund, which was interesting as it then appeared we had been overcharged for our drinks as he couldnt arrive at the same amount to refund us! Whilst he was trying to work it out, another lady cancelled her lunch, having waited 20 minutes for 2 roast beef dinners to then be told there was no more beef! Oh an another man came in because he had ordered 4 dinners and only 3 had been brought to the table. They told him the 4th was there and he went back outside only to return to say he was still one dinner missing! and finally when i asked the manager for the name and address of their head office (as the pub is part of a group) he said he didnt know it and that as i had received a refund i had no reason take the matter any further. I am sure his head office would love to know the level of customer service their staff deliver. I have to say, this was all so dreadful, i was starting to look for the hidden cameras! It was it was almost comical to think that 3 times they could serve cold food and not think that the customer might be unhappy about it! BE WARNED!! DO NOT EAT IN THIS PUB IF YOU EXPECT HOT FOOD!!!
