| Date of visit: 13th July. First off - we booked in person a table for 8 at about three days in advance. We arrived to find no booking but then found that the person who had booked us did so for the 6th July (ie., some days prior to us making the booking!). Luckily, one of the waiters put two tables together to seat us. The pub was quite crowded but not packed but the service was ultra-slow. In the main, the food was merely adequate but certainly nowhere near good and the steak and ale pies were a disappointment. Worse was that a rump steak was so tough it was wholly inedible and couldn't be cut with the steak knife. Moreover, that same person ordered a very small portion of chips with mushrooms but definitely NO PEAS. When his meal arrived, there was a standard serving of chips with peas and NO mushrooms!!! Given that the prices are certainly not cheap it was poor value for money.
