The Wiggin Tree was formerly two cottages on the Parbold Hall estate which dates back to the 1650s. One of the cottages opposite the hall was extended in around 1946 and opened as the Parbold Hill café run by Mrs Elizabeth Waddington & her husband John before it became the Wiggin Tree. The pub is so uniquely named because it is said that one of the trees in the grounds, was a mountain ash (also known as a wiggin tree) which was known for having supernatural links, particularly with witchcraft, and legend has it that people were tied the tree for a whipping in the past. Guests will be able to browse a new menu which includes a wide variety of freshly prepared classic pub dishes such as Slow Cooked Shoulder of Lamb, daily fresh fish dishes and Homemade Pie of the Day. There is also a separate lunch menu offering freshly made sandwiches and salads, perfect if you’re just nipping in for a quick bite. Look out for the blackboard showing today’s specials, and the thoughtfully selected range of delicious vegetarian options. There is an extensive wine selection to compliment the menu as well as a variety of continental lagers. There is no need to book, just come in and we'll look after you. The Wiggin Tree is a stylish country pub with modern twists that add to the character of the building. Features include roaring open fires, low beam ceilings and several cosy but contemporary areas to enjoy a drink or a meal. Guests will get great, friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. FOOD SERVED: Daily 11am- 11pm AVE COST PER HEAD: £12 PRINCIPAL BEERS: Timothy Taylor, Staropramen, Amstel FACILITIES: Garden, outdoor eating, wheelchair access NOTES: DIRECTIONS: Off the M6 at junction 27, follow signs for Apperley Bridge and Parbold.
