Snacks and specialities.

Long famous for its fine food, The Famous Bein Inn offers a choice of menus featuring snacks, full meals and speciality dishes created by Calum, our Head Chef. The peaceful Balvaird Restaurant overlooks the woods of Glenfarg and offers Table d’Hote and Speciality Menus that make imaginative use of the freshest local produce. Our menus change regularly to make the most of the local fruits and vegetables as they come into season and our well-stocked wine cellar guarantees the perfect accompaniment to every dish. The more informal MacGregor Bar and Rock Gallery Bistro boast comprehensive menus of snacks, bar lunches and suppers, and full dinners with ever-changing daily specials.

The Famous Bein Inn

The Country Inn was originally built as a resting place for travellers on the traditional route north from Edinburgh to the Highlands. It enjoys a peaceful, rural location in picturesque, wooded Glenfarg, just to the south of Perth, a few minutes off the M90 motorway and less than an hour’s drive from the buzz and vitality of Edinburgh. At the Country Inn we are renowned for our friendly welcome and relaxed, informal atmosphere. Our warm, comfortable decor and blazing log fires are in keeping with our traditions and provide a welcome contrast to the cold, sterile character you find in many of today’s hotels and restaurants. The Famous Bein Inn has been welcoming visitors to our oasis for 140 years

So how has a small Scottish country inn become an internationally recognised music venue that draws musicians and audiences from all over the world? It’s simple really. Just put top class musicians in a small room with 60 or so of their most fervent fans up close and you have an intimate experience where it feels like you’re listening to an old friend playing away in their own living room. Musicians have a chance to stretch out and experiment in a way they couldn’t with larger audiences. And the immediate feedback from an audience in The Famous Bein Inn lifts musicians to new levels and sparks many unforgettable performances.

That’s why musicians now ask to play at The Famous Bein Inn. It’s why we appear on the European tour itineraries of renowned American musicians who normally play much larger venues. The Famous Bein Inn specialises in classic rock and blues with a good dash of alt country, Americana and folk thrown in for good measure. We’ve hosted some of the great rock names of the sixties and seventies but also many of the hot, up and coming, young US and UK songwriters who will go on to become household names. The Famous Bein Inn was voted “Scottish Music Pub of the Year” in 2002 and was a finalist in the “UK Music Pub of the Year” in 2004.
