Royal Oak, Lechlade, Gloucestershire
Homepage
Royal Oak, Lechlade, Gloucestershire, dispenses Real Ales.
Though modernised in 1990, this is an unspoilt pub in an attractive village on the edge of the Cotswolds where the pace of life is definitely in the slow lane. It's a modest little place, but first and foremost it prides itself on being a place where local villagers can enjoy a drink, a bar snack or the odd game of darts and skittles. That's not to say that all visitors won't get a right Royal welcome at the Oak. The building itself is probably somewhat younger than you might imagine. A small row of tiny cottages once stood here and at some time were converted to a pub. This was demolished to make way for a brand new pub which opened in 1921 and has been serving Arkell's beer ever since.
