We visited having seen their advert in the Ouse Boozer we had a couple of very nice pints of Spitfire and unusual to see around these parts Rams Brewery Youngs Bitter, a very nice surprise. Nice village pub, clean and tidy pleasant owners, overall made me wish i lived closer. We found the beer garden to very nice and so will be returning durring the summer to take advantage of some very nice alfresco drinking.[Report for Removal] George Porter

My wife and i regulary visit pubs in and around the York area where we live, we have today just arrived home after having what i can only describe as one of the best sunday lunches i have ever tasted both my wife and i will certainly make the Oak Tree a regular stop. Contary to a previous review on this website we found the staff to be very polite and chatty given that the pub was very busy at the time and we were lucky to be seated considering that we hadnt booked, which having been there now is the best way of ensuring you get a great meal.[Report for Removal] Keith Watkinson

We visited the Oak Tree in Helperby on a day out around York. We wished we had just gone home. The pub itself was quite nice inside but we were ignored by the landlord Lee, (who has also reviewed his own pub on this site!) and felt we were not welcome as Lee and his wife Kate just continued to watch TV rather than talk to their customers. Pub locality 100%, customer service 0%. Will not be going back there. I would suggest the Golden Lion also in Helperby where we have been since and, even though we did not eat then the food looked and smelt delicious, the atmosphere was so much better and much friendlier. Plus there were other customers in who made us feel welcome.. what a contrast![Report for Removal] Aby Tradlings
