Disappointed, Lunch visit, took 1,3/4 hours just for a main meal and coffee, plates cold, veg very underdone. We will not be going back any time soon[Report for Removal] Christine

We contacted Donna, the Proprietor with a view to holding a family celebration at The Malthouse. We were more than likely going to book a different place at the time, becuase they had a private room; but from the outset Donna was so helpful and went out of her way to give me information and suggestions of how to arrange the day that we decided that we would have our celebration here. We chose a menu for 33 guests, and Donna gave us a beautiful raised section of the Restaurant which was simply perfect for our event. We had a U shaped table arrangement, and took decorations to the venue the night before. When we arrived, the setting was simply beautiful. Donna and her staff had arranged everything beautifully, and we really couldn't have wished for any more. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The Chef had sone a wonderful job, I only wish we'd thought to ask him to come out so we could thank him personally. I would definitely not hesitate to recommend the Malthouse. Its a beautiful clean restaurant with excellent standards and the staff are amazingly helpful and willing. Thanks again for making our day so wonderful! It looked so POSH!! We visited the Malthouse a while ago now but I must say we were quite imprest with the food, the only things is though it was quite cold and echoe in there, I think it needs to look more warm and inviting, I will definately go back again.[Report for Removal] Joanne Webb

Visited 6th January 2009 and found completely new decor, new chef, new menu. Now very classy but by no means horrendously overpriced. Lovely surroundings though it was quite cold great menu choices. Carrot & Ginger soup great as was the baked halloumi on bruschetta with tomato & basil. A 'proper beef' burger with a lovely melting cheese inside was a hit with the men whilst my chicken with lemon & thyme was moist and full of flavour. No room for a sweet this time but we are returning this weekend and really look forward to it. The chef deserves to have great success with such good quality food. [Report for Removal] Sue Bell

I visited The Malt House Pub last week for the first time since it's been refurbished....it looks great and the food was excellent, well presented and cooked to my perfection. When we were seated we were told that there was a bit of a wait with the food but that was because all of the food was cooked fresh, we were kept informed and then checked on by the waitresses, well worth the wait I can tell you. The only thing I will say that disappointed me was the one waitress that served me at the bar, she seemed more interested in watching the other waitresses from behind the bar and then telling them what to do and not in serving me or anybody come to that. When I’m stood at a bar waiting I expect to be acknowledged and told won't be a minute, not looked at and ignored till she'd finished chatting!! Then it felt like I had inconvenienced her by making her pour a pint and a wine, and I could see I was not the only one that she wasn't the most friendliest and politest to, lets hope the younger waitresses don't listen to her on how to serve and treat a customer! On the plus side I was told that the waitress that had brought our main meals to the table was in fact the owner, I don’t know of many places where the owner will waitress alongside a full compliment of waiting staff, made my night even more enjoyable, what a good example to the customers and the staff..I am going back there next time I’m out for a meal and I highly recommend it to you. It's a nice place to go even just for a drink, well done The Malt House and I hope it continues.[Report for Removal] Sheryl
