We visited on the evening of the 11/11/09 to take advantage of the two for £10 voucher on arrival we were not acknowledged at all we sat down and viewed the menu ten minutes passed still no staff for drink or food order staff going to kitchen and desk still no attention, decided to order drinks from the bar, again for no staff to be there to serve,awaited for another 5 mins decided that this place was not for us, and left.Must emphasize the place was only 1/2 full.Will not return. Visited for Sunday lunch twice in the past 3 weeks. (I used to live close-by) First time thought that the 'bad' service was just a glitch, however visited yesterday, and it hadn't changed. Food up to the usual nice standard, but timing of delivery of the food was terrible as was the staff attitude towards customers. It would be nice if they smiled!! for starters. It wasn't that busy, and yet staff were just standing around - & not checking on where things were etc. Very very poor attitude. I am refering to the comments made by Helen Powell on 04/04/2007. The Holly Bush was taken over in late 2007 by new managers and we have now been here for a year. We hope Ms Powell will return to visit us as many changes have been made since her visit and we pride ourselves in not only our food but also our service and team. Food was lovely but the service was disgraceful. Our waiter (looked like a Pop Idol contestant) treated us with contempt. The wait between starter and main course was just over an hour. Tables were not cleared and re-laid in between courses without asking. Every drinks order we put in had to be asked for twice. On making a complaint we were offered complimentary sweets which we did not want. Decided not to give waiter a tip but the change (£9) did not come back to us voluntarily. At end of meal we complained to the manager who told us that the waiter obviously had a different sense of humour to ourselves. Didn't realise that we had gone to an "Audience with the Waiter" night and not for a family meal to celebrate my father's 75th birthday.
