| This pub changed hands in July 2009 and has improved beyond all recognition. The place has been totally and very tastefully refurbished, the staff are friendly, polite and helpful, the service is excellent and very personal - haven't tasted the food yet but heard it's excellent. As if this wasn't enough, the George IV has very quickly established itself as THE number one venue in the area for live bands. Every weekend local bands are featured, catering to a huge range of musical tastes and showcasing both well-established and new bands. Check out their facebook for future events. | We pre-booked a table at this public house for 7 people on Xmas Eve but when we arrived the tables had not been put together or set. The food when it arrived was cold even after it was sent back for rewarming -one of our table was promised some new hot chips to replace her cold ones but they never arrived because the chef went home. The staff attidue was rude and indifferent and we were more or less told where to go if we didnt like it.
